On August 9, 2018, Corporal Jonathan Currier, a U.S. Marine Corps CH-53E Super Stallion crew chief was reported missing aboard USS Essex. Corporal Currier, was assigned to HMH-361 Flying Tigers but was deployed at the time of his disappearance with VMM-166 (Reinforced), the Aviation Combat Element of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, at the time.
Corporal Currier was declared dead after an extensive five-day search that covered 13,000 square nautical miles of the Sulu Sea, Mindanao Sea and the Surigao Straight.
The family and squadrons affected by this mishap have given The Wingman Foundation their full support in launching this fundraiser to help with current and future expenses. Rest assured, 100% of all donations will go to those affected.
